First impression of BBM Meeting

BBM meetings was presented on 13 November 2014. There is software to perform multi-party conferences. Regardless of location and device that you own. BBM meetings so far has nothing to do with the famous BBM. There is a separate app and requires no BES used to enjoy.

BBM meetings running on the desktop under Windows and Mac OS. On smartphones are Android, iOS soon and of course BlackBerry support.

BBM meetings costs compared to market very little companions. Will start per host / user of a meeting are due per month 12:50 dollars. Citrix GoToMeeting and Webex from Cisco are about $ 39 on a similar product. Let’s see how long it goes, until both companies respond.

If you want to use BBM meetings, I recommend the “Communicator Enterprise Bundle”. For $ 12 also Protected BBM is on board:

The second bundle which BlackBerry is offering the “Secure Productivity Bundle”. This includes “VPN Authentication, BBM Protected and Blackberry Blend. This bundle has nothing to do with BBM meetings. Only purely as a tip.

This is the start window under Windows. One has the choice to participate in a meeting or to sign with his BlackBerry ID. Attend meeting is free and there is no provision to BlackBerry ID required. You just have to enter a code and you’re in the middle of the session.

On the smartphone you have the same choice.

After logging following window opens. This is the main window of BBM meetings.

The following options are available.

“Start Without Video”: This is an audio-only meeting

“Start With Video”: This is the video conference

“Schedule”: Here Meetings can be scheduled and sent

Under settings, the meeting may be recorded and made other basic settings.

Besides some buttons are too short for the German translation, and the ability to dial only in USA, Canada and UK is when you are offline, I do BBM meetings a good impression. Now is the BBM meetings “in real” use.

BBM meetings supports up to 25 users.
